Alabama High School Football Player Dies
The tragic passing of Caden Tellier, a young and promising quarterback for Morgan Academy, has left a community in deep sorrow. Caden suffered a severe brain injury during the home opener against Southern Academy on Friday night and was later airlifted to a hospital in Birmingham. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Caden passed away on Saturday.
His parents, Arsella Slagel Tellier and Jamie Tellier confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media. They expressed their grief and gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support from the community. In their post, they shared that Caden had “met Jesus face to face” and that his spirit is now rejoicing in heaven.
They highlighted his kindness, generosity, and love, which he demonstrated throughout his life and even in death, as he continues to give through organ donation.
The post also mentioned that arrangements for a service would be made soon, and the family requested continued prayers for the difficult days ahead. The Alabama Independent Schools Association (AISA) initially reported Caden’s passing earlier in the day, but the post was later retracted when it was clarified that he was in critical condition at that time.
Following the confirmation of his death, Morgan Academy announced the suspension of all school activities for the coming week as the school community mourns this profound loss.
Caden’s death has sent ripples of grief through Selma and beyond, as those who knew him remember a life marked by kindness and love. His legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the lives that will be saved through his final act of giving.
